The service commenced with the Invocation by the Rev. Dr. Attila Kocsis, President of the Eastern District of the American Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association. The sermon was delivered by the host pastor, the Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Dean of the Eastern Classis of Calvin Synod. The text was Amos 7:8, with readings from Ephesians 3:72-21 and Matthew 4:11 in illustration. Several area ministers also assisted in the worship’s elements, including the Very Rev. Barnabas Roczey, Dean of the HRCA Eastern Classis, the Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi, the Very Rev. Stefan Torok, Pastor Charles Olah, the Rev. Anikó Kocsis and the Rev. Leslie Martin. Congregations represented were Carteret, both Perth Amboy, New Brunswick, Passaic, Staten Island, and the American Hungarian Foundation by the Rev. Dr. August Molnár and Rev. Martin. Afterward the worshipers enjoyed a Hungarian Dinner featuring gulyás leves and csirke paprikas in the church’s social hall. Rev. Albert W. Kovács Hungarian Reformed Church Woodbridge, NJ Calling All ‘56ers! October 2006 will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. We would like to take this opportunity to include stories in the Calvin Synod Herald about this historic event - from those who were there and from those who learned about it from their parents or grandparents. If we receive enough stories, we would like include some in every issue of the Herald throughout 2006. We are looking for: The proper procedure is for all interested ministers to send their completed PROFILE (as provided by the United Church of Christ) to the Bishop’s office at Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, 7319 Tapper Avenue, Hammond, Indiana 46324. Questions may be directed by telephone to (219) 931-4321. First-Person Accounts We need short stories/articles from anyone with eyewitness accounts of the 1956 Revolution, sharing their memories (in English or Hungarian) and photographs. Other Submissions For those who were not actually there during the Revolution, perhaps they would like to write about what their parents or grandparents or other family members have told them about it. Or they can share their feelings about the 1956 Revolution in poetry or maybe even submit some family photographs from Hungary during that time. Please share this request with your congregations and send all submissions to CSChurchNewsfg aol.com. Vacancies: Beaver Falls, PA
