CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 7 Organ Dedication in Beaver Falls The Third Avenue Calvin Reformed Church of Beaver Falls recently dedicated their newly acquired organ. Our piano tuner, who also maintains pianos for area clergy and churches, was asked if he knew of anyone who would like a quality two manual full pedal-board organ. A minister whose wife had died had an organ that he and his family wanted to donate where needed. For many years, Third Avenue had a living room spinet model Hammond organ, so the officers and congregation were delighted to receive this gift from the estate of a young woman who had been a faculty member at Seton Hill College. We were honored that day to have present some descendents of deceased members; the Reverend Mr. James Decker, the donor who spoke of his wife; the Reverend Doctor George Carson, retired from the Third Avenue Church; and Mr. Philip Inman, professor of organ studies at Geneva College, with whom our organist has studied. She gave a recital of classical sacred music demonstrating the variety of tones the organ produces. The service, led by the Reverend Imre Bertalan, incorporated scriptures, prayers and hymns in both the English and Hungarian languages. The inspiring service concluded with the singing of the Hungarian National Hymn. Thank you for all your support! In January, Rev. György Cseh and his wife, Gabriella, were blessed with the birth of their 3rd son, Gedeon Zsigmond. He weighed 8 pounds and was 21.5 inches at birth. Made up of members from various denominations, they have been working with and observing the monumental struggles of these fellow Christians. Having come out of Communism in 1989, they have been left in poverty and despair. As a very general overview of TRAC’s work, we may note five of its major projects: 1. ) TRAC has made it possible for seminary students to go out into small village churches that are without ministers, to hold services for the depleted numbers of people who remain there. 2. ) These villages have been found to be without medical care, so TRAC has made provisions for a doctor to visit them and provide the regular medical attention which the people need. 3. ) A new project is to help a small orphanage which takes in orphans, educates them in the faith, and provides a godly home for them. 4. ) In one village, Válaszút, we have helped to establish a Christian School, which supplies education for their children and many more from surrounding villages. 5. ) TRAC has begun to work with local farmers in developing better farming techniques and helping them to establish markets for their products. This is a simplified overview of TRAC, giving a small insight into the expanse of its work.
