Please, join us!!! WOODBRIDGE IOOtH ANNIVERSARY EVENT NEW HUNGARIAN FLAG DEDICATED A new Hungarian flag was dedicated on Hungarian Inde­pendence Day in the Woodbridge church. The third of the monthly events celebrating the centennial of the Hungarian Reformed Church began in the church for this brief service. Then, reassembling in the church hall, the congregation heard the Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz reconstruct the ancient ethnic roots of the Hungarian people prior to settlement in their new homeland in 896, their early years of nation building, and glimpses into their cultural and religious life, concluding with recent efforts in seeking independence from Austrian and Russian rule. With the congregation assembled in the front of the church, the Service was opened by the Rev. Abert W. Kovács with the American National Anthem, as an expression of the congregation’s gratitude for one hundred years of freedom of worship, which was followed by the prayer in unison of the nation’s first President, George Washington: ‘Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subor­dination and obedience to government, and entertain a broth­erly affection and love for their fellow-citizens of the United States at large.
