Zoltán S. Sutto, Camp Co-Director From July 29th to August 4th the combined youth of the HRCA and the Calvin Synod came together in the beautiful setting of Laurelville, Pennsylvania for their annual Summer Camp. Because of the recent success of the television show Survivor, the staff of the camp decided to apply this concept to our session. So the official theme of the camp was - Survivor: The Christian Adventure. During the week the campers attended the following sessions that pointed out the different things that they need to be aware of in their daily journeys: Monday: Preparing for the adventure - knowing that God is there for them; Tuesday: Outwit, Outlast, Overcome the Enemy - the Devil; Wednesday: The Rewards Challenge - the things awaiting them if they succeed; Thursday: The Tribe has Spoken - helping each other with their decisions; Friday: The Final Vote - Finishing Victorious - the final reward. The campers spent many other hours going to Bible Studies, Workshops that covered a variety of topics and a different evening activity, from initiation to the camp to the final night’s moving Consecration and Communion services. It was great to spend a week with some of the best young folks that I have ever had the privilege of being around. However, without the hard work of our staff of counselors and CIT’s, and the fabulous job of our commissioned youth worker Kathy Smith, these annual camps would never get off the ground. Also, I think we owe a special tip of the hat to my codirector Priscilla Hunyadi, all of our guest speakers, and my fellow Synod ministers who always give so freely of their time to the young people of our churches - Bishop Louis Medgyesi, Rev. Karl Ludwig, Rev. Bela Poznan, and Rev. Levente Molnár. This will be my final report as director of the youth camp and let me say that it has been a real pleasure to serve in that capacity and I wish my successor all the best in the world. era
