CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 4 -AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Sk Christmas Message In the midst of timeless time, a baby is born in Bethlehem of Judea. The preternatural events surrounding that birth were told and retold to each generation of man. The Messiah was born. Salvation had come. The Kingdom of God was at hand. Jesus the Christ was Saviour of man and of the world. /------------------------------------------------------------\ The Kings Of Bethlehem by Attila József Jesus, Jesus, God greet you, God greet you! Three kings are we well and true, Flaming star stood round our place, So we came on foot in haste. Little lamb said: never fear, Jesus Christ is dwelling here. V________________________________/ “Peace on earth, good will to men!” Then pealed the bells more loud and deep; God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!” The wrong shall fail, The right prevail! “With peace on earth, good will to men!” Henry W. Longfellow For Your Christmas Meditation The angel said to the shepherds, “Fear not”. It was a world of Fear just as our is a world of fear today. Recently the President of the United States said, “The world lives under a pall of fear.” Despite our liberty and our scientific advancement and all our boasted civilization, human fear is unprecedented. Most of us fear everything but God, when it is God whom we should fear most of all. But if we are reconciled to God through Christ, we need not have any fear, for “perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). The only freedom from fear at this Christmas season is in Christ. “Fear not” says the Christmas angel, “for unto you is born a Savior”. Billy Graham Mark Twain’s Christmas Wish It is in my heart-warming and worldembracing Christmas hope that all of us - the high, the low; the rich, the poor; the admired, the despised; the loved, the hated; the civilized, the savage - may eventually be gathered together in a heaven of everlasting rest, peace and bliss...except the inventor of the telephone. (On the door of the telephone closet in the Mark Twain House, Hartford, Connecticut.) The Christian Observer: Transylvanian Bishop Kalman Csiha’s The Light Through The Bars, recounts the incredible story of six-and-ahalf years in prison for the cause of Jesus. The Calvin Synod Herald most highly recommends this English-version of the 166-page long book with 30 immortal poems, written behind prison bars in the aftermath of the Debrecen World Alliance Meeting, with the motto: "BREAK THE CHAINS OF INJUSTICE!" The price of the book, including mailing, is only $11.24.
