CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 5 -AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Our former Flint, Michigan church will celebrate its Soth Anniversary on October 25, iggj.- A church in the Reformed Tradition -They blessed the king and then went home, joyful and glad in heart for all the good things that the Lord had done for his servant David and his people Israel. The Church choir Pastor with the children of the Church The joy that was experienced by the Israelites when they dedicated the great Temple of Solomon, could not have been much more than the joy that the growing congregation of the former Flinti Magyar Evangéliumi És Református Egyház felt on September 21st, 1996 when the new sanctuary of the Heritage Church, United Church of Christ was dedicated in Davison Township. The spiritual journey that began in November of 1917 had reached another milestone in the glorious history of this small but active church! Only the good Lord knows for sure how much more history will be written but it is our solemn prayer that all of those years be spent under the love and grace of our God. We began the year of 1996 in the same place that we had begun the year of 1995 - Oak Park United Methodist Church. The work had begun on the new church building and we were all expecting on being in our new place by late Spring or very early Summer. Man prepossess and God disposes - it was Fall before the move would be made. The tears that were shed by both congregations when the move actually occurred were truly heartfelt and shed in the promise that we would continue to come together during the church year to worship again as one church. All of the old members should be very proud of this great accomplishment and for a few it is the third church building that they have worshipped in. They need to take their well-deserved bows and back slaps. We thank the new members and those who have again began worshipping with us. They are very lucky because they have joined a very active and worshipping church and now is the time for them to totally immerse themselves in the working and growing of the church, that they now call home. In addition to new adult members, we have added more children. When we used to be fortunate to have four children at one time, now we can have up to twenty-eight children on a Sunday morning. In closing, we would like to thank the members of the Consistory for all their hard work during the past year and a special thank you to Tibor Nagy for all of his hard years of service to the Consistory and the church. We would be remiss if we didn’t also thank the Women’s Guild and the many volunteers at our bake and sausage sales. May God continue His blessings upon all of you. Rev. Zoltán. S. Sutto, Minister
