CfiLVIN SYNOD HERALD- 3 -REFOMflTUSOK LAPJA Truthful Reflections The Reflection of Calvin Synod, Conference of Ü.C.C., on the Fateful Resolution of the European Section of the World Alliance of the Reformed Churches "The Hungarian Re\v\\ formed World Synod" was NN\ initiated in September, 1993, \vA in order to give Hungarian Re- X'^A formed Christians throughout the world a constructive and representative fellowship in which to serve their spiritual needs and maintain their faith and practice reflected in common theological heritage, liturgy, hymnody and piety. We regret that the European Section of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches has negatively interpreted the intent of the Hungarian Reformed World Synod. We understand the European Section's compassionate Christian concern for the future of the Hungarian minority in neighboring countries, but we want to reaffirm that the Hungarian Reformed World Synod is not nationalistic in any way, but is instead concerned with the matters of Faith and Order. We are therefore asking for a continued dialogue, and request the World Alliance of Reformed Churches to reconsider its position." The statement above was unanimously approved, and was passed by the Synod. It was ordered that this statement be sent to the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and to its European section, to the Hungarian Reformed World Synod, and to the Office of the president of the United Church of Christ. □ □□ Forthcoming F’lycnt?
