CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 2 -REFOMÁTUSOK LAPJA — Colvin Synod News — OUR ANNUAL MEETING Was Held On May 11-14, Ligonier, PA In The Former Lord Ligonier Inn (Now Ramada Inn) The traditional Annual Youth Conference was held this year on May 1 & 2, in the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Cleveland, Ohio, at the new Walton Hill's location. Focus on commitment. Theme: "Count the Costs - Jesus Did! Will You?" Kathy Smith in charge. The Summer Youth Camp for the young people of all Synodical churches (together with the churches of the Magyar Reformed Church in America) will be held at the same location as every year on the days of August from the 8th to the 14th. Rev. William Nyerges will be the new Camp Director from our Synod, together with Ms. Priscilla Hunyady from the otherChurch. The camp's location is the Mennonite Chuch Center in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania (near Ligonier.) The theme is "Religion vs. Pseudo- Religion {Matthew 24:5). Friday How To Stay Faithful Completed registration forms are to be returned no later than July 1,1993. They should be accompanied by the camp fee of $200. William Nyerges, 216-338-9154. September 5, 6, & 7 - Church Workers' Conference and Ministerial meeting for Hungar­ian pastors in Lignonier, PA. It is a united meeting of all Hungarian Church Workers and ministers of the different fractions of our life. The Conference for Presbyters and Church Workers for our Hungarian Reformed churches in the Ohio District area to be held at First Church in Cleveland on Sunday, September 26th at the new Walton Hills location. The conference is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. Guest speaker is Reverand Lajos Medgyesi, Auxiliary Bishop of Calvin Synod, and pastor in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. We will also have a musical group, Res­cue, to entertain us. The young people had the group at the May Youth Conference. There will be plenty of good food for the noon meal. The cost of the meal is $6.00. Please make your reservations as soon as possible by calling the church at (216) 786-7272. The fifty-fifth Annual Meeting of the Calvin Synod, Conference of the United Church of Christ, was held from the 11th of May to the 14th in Ligonier, PA. Our democratic system of church government operates through the balanced power of elected ministerial and lay delegates from all our local congregations based in nine states in America. 57 delegates attended. The Agenda of Routine Procedure was followed. The Church at large was reprsented by the Rev. Dr. Paul Sherry, President of U.C.C. The outgoing officers of Synodical council recieved gratitude from the Synod. The new officers were installed. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz of Perth Amboy, N J. was elected as the new bishop; Rev. Louis Medgyesi of Fairport Harbor, OH is auxiliary bishop; Rev. Albert Kovács of Woodbridge, NJ. was re-elected secretary; Rev. Raymond Kaiser of Dayton, OH is treasurer and Irma Y. Carnevale is the new Synod presbyter. Their pictures are presented at the top of the next page. God's gracious blessings are asked by all our continuing constituting on the work of the new Synodical Council. The Rev. Dr. Aladár Komyáthy was elected to be the new pastor of our church in Pittsburgh, PA. He formerly served our Passaic, NJ. church and the Hungarian Reformed Church in Montreal, Canada. His return to the service in our Synod is greatly welcomed. May God give his blessing unto him and his people in the Pittsburgh congregation. His formal installation by Synod will take place in the Pittsburgh church on Ref­ormation Sunday, October 31,1993 at 4:00 p.m. The installation will be perfromed by the Right Reverand Dr. Francis Vitéz, bishop. At 6:00 p.m. a galla banquet will follow the traditional Ceremonial event. Vacant Congregation South Norwalk, in the state of Con­necticut. Due to Rev.
