CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 2-REFOMÁTÜSOK LAPJA ----Calvin Synod News----OUR ANNUAL MEETING May 11-14, Ligonier, PA In The Former Lord Ligonier Inn (Now Ramada Inn) The fifty-fifth Annual Meeting of the Calvin Synod, Conference of the United Church of Christ, will be held from the 11th of May to the 14th in Ligonier, PA. This is the constitutional meeting of our congregations with legislative, administrative and jurisdictional powers invested in our Synod for the benefit of all local congregations. This year's meeting will again be an historical meeting with a very important and heavy agenda. The opening service will be followed by Holy Communion. Our democratic system of church government operates through the balanced power of elected ministerial and lay delegates from all our local congregations based in nine states in America. It is indeed extremely important that all lay delegates (one from each congregation) should accompany the pastor for this legislative meeting. The Bishop's usual letter with all details was sent to all congregations.------------------------------------;------------------------------------------------N The Classis Meetings in Preparation for the Annual Synod Meeting The Lakeside Classis met on February 2 at the Cleveland West Side Church and held a very successful meeting with a number of recommendations to the Annual Synod meeting with Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Dean, presiding. Eastern Classis, Dean Rev. Béla Póznán; Central Classis, and Western Classis, Dean Peter Pál Bodor, most likely had their meetings, however, no reports were received to date. Rev. Ferenc Gaál was installed into the pastorate of our church in Passaic, NJ. The installation was held on January 31,1993, with the Right Rev. Zoltán D. Szűcs, Bishop, officiating. The traditional Annual Youth Conference will be held this year on May 1 & 2 (Saturday and Sunday), in the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Cleveland, Ohio, at the new Walton Hill's location. Focus on commitment. Theme: "Count the Costs - Jesus Did! Will You?" Kathy Smith in charge. The Summer Youth Camp for the young people of all Synodical churches (together with the churches of the Magyar Reformed Church in America) will be held at the same location as every year on the days of August from the 8th to the 14th. Rev. William Nyerges will be the new Camp Director from our Synod, together with Ms. Priscilla Huny ady from the other church. The camp's location is the Mennonite Chuch Center in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania (near Ligonier.) The Reformed Federation and the William Penn Association again will graciously contribute to the easing the expenses. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America will pay $20 toward the camp fee for any young person who is a member of the Federation. Those attending Camp should notify their local Federation Branch Manager, who in turn, will notify the Home Office. The $20 will be reimbursed directly to the individual by the Federation. /----------------------------------John Calvin-----------------------------------------------------------\ Vacant Congregations South Norwalk, in the state of Connecticut.
