The month of October for me was not one of the “falling leaves” but of falling anonymous letters. The “Jordano Joesko” published news, eminating from Debrecen, that my car-accident in Hungary was not an accident, adding that the “master shooters” will assasinate me. At the same time letters came from Ploiesti threatening with the assasination of my children likewise. Even my 74-year-old mother received letters preparing her for the cross to bear. The ultimate threat came to the kindergarten teacher of my 5 year-old son because of being his instructor. 7. ) An anonymous writer went as far as to notify the “Panorama Television” in Budapest that I will be assasinated by one of my own bodyguards, as it is written for me in the plan-book of my life. (That Television played a leading part in portraying the Timosara incident.) 8. ) The younger brother of a former Securitate agent, in possession of internal information, disclosed that my auto accident was not an accident and the henchmen are still plotting for my extinction. A former Major of Securitate, Theodore Salajan, is engaged in the execution of the plot in Romania, and there are also agents outside the border employed to do the same. 9. ) In this death struggle of events, I blame the “Vatra” and the “Front” members in the parliament as the foremost agitants. The “Hargita-Kovászna” frontal leaders are waging a campaign of hatred against the székely-magyars in Transylvania openly calling them “collective-criminals”. Throughout their exponents in the Bucharest Parliament these extremists maneuvered to demand a resolution to have me “court martialled” and expelled from the Nation as a “traitor”. The “Marosmegyei Frontal Organization” of these extremists conveyed a written memorandum to the Attorney General to start criminal proceedings against me and other magyar leaders of the district. 10. ) The anti-magyar campaign reached its peak when in the Romanian Parliament the ruling “Front of National Rescue” through its leader, Radu Ciontea (Vatra head), declared the former imprisoned-leaders as heroes of the Nation and named me together with the other Revolutionaries “traitors”. At that time in front of the whole Parliament, and through the T.V. stations the whole Nation, he dared to read Radu Tinu’s letter, who was the Securitate-Chief in Timosara in 1989 and who is still sitting in jail for murdering multitudes. The accused, still waiting to be convicted, accuses me in his letter by high-treason against the Romanian Nation in a desperate attempt to white-wash himself of the real crime. He was able to do the same to me from the prison what he did against me openly while he was the local Secret Police Chief under Ceausescu in Timosara in 1989. 11. ) The harassment has also been extended to the ecclesiastical sphere of my bishopric. The present political leaders and the agents of the present Secret Service continuously harass my clergymen and local congregations under my jurisdiction in Királyhágó by restricting them in carrying out their church-functions because of false informations coming from Secret Service channels. (For example: Bárót, Magyarremete, etc.) 12. ) In view of all the above, it is not at all surprising that right at the anniversary time of the Temesvár-Timosara Siege the majority of the crimally accused prisoners were released from the jail and set free; among them even Radu Tinu himself, the Securitate Chief. This turn of events created the most cynical possibili(Continued on page 5) “CHRISTS’ RESURRECTION AND OURS” We Christians are just as prone to secularize Easter as we are Christmas. While we do not hear slogans calling for us to put Christ back into Easter, we must confess that it is all too easy for us to avoid the central meaning of the resurrection of Christ. Some of us may do it by treating Easter as the celebration of the vernal equinox and the renewal of nature. Hence our preoccupation with Easter lilies and spring finery. Others of us may do it by interpreting the resurrection simply as the means by which Christ entered divinity and was thus removed from the lives of his brothers and sisters on earth. In the New Testament, Christ’s resurrection is not seen as the means by which Christ was separated from his followers. As Jews they had all believed that God would inaugurate the new age in an act of resurrection. All the dead would be raised up for judgement with the living. In their thinking, that day would come in the far distant future. But not they affirmed that God had already begun the resurrection with Jesus. To them he was “the firstfruits of those who sleep.” As they saw it, the same Spirit who had raised Christ from the dead was now at work in their lives. They were sharing in Christ’s resurrection and becoming new persons. As Paul puts it, Christ was present in the Spirit and renewing their lives as they grew in “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, fidelity, gentleness, and self-control”' (Gal. 5:22). They could not speak about Christ’s resurrection without talking about the resurrection that was taking place in their own lives. (Continued on page 5) T
