CALVIN SYNOD HERALD — 4 REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Religious news from all over BIBLES OUTSIDE OF HUNGARY BUDAPEST (RPS) - The Reformed Church in Hungary presented a great number of Bibles and hymn books to the Hungarianspeaking Reformed Church in Transcarpathia, Soviet Union. The gift of the Reformed Church in Hungary was handed over to Bishop Dr. Pál Forgon by Bishop Dr. Károly Tóth. Covering the event, the Reformed weekly Reformátusok Lapja stated: "It is not the first time that the Hungarian Reformed people living beyond the borders of Hungary, including brothers ind sisters of Transcarpathia, received Hungarian Bibles and hymn books indispensable for worship by the agency of our church. This ministry can be considered as one of the eloquent - perhaps the most eloquent - of proofs of the ecumenical engagements of our church." CONFERENCE AT KECSKEMET GENEVA (RPS) - One of the 1S1 members of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, two-thirds could be called "minorities". That is, they are small, sometimes persecuted denominations seeking to carry out their faith in religious and historical contexts which ignore, or at times harass them. Many dwell in countries where the dominating religion is Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Islam or Animist, and where the dominant religion's relationship with civil authorities overwhelm the witness of Reformed communities. A major breakthrough towards overcoming the isolation occured last October in Kecskemet, Hungary. Under the auspices of A'ARC and hosted by the Reformed Church of Hungary, representatives from eleven Reformed Churches in Middie and Eastern Europe gathered for one week to share their burdens, their commitment to the Gospel and their hopes for the future. In May, 1937 a full report of the Kecskemét Conference was published in Hungarian, German and English by the Reformed Church of Hungary and sent to every member church of the World Alliance. The title of the work is Have No Fear, Little Flock! Should you or your congregation wish to receive a copy, please write to the General Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Hungary, Office of the Press, Abonyi ut 21, Budapest XIV, Hungary.
