May 19-21, 1986. Ninety-nine persons attended the meeting, 53 delegates and 46 guests. Some of our distinguished guests delivering greetings to our Synod were The Rev. Molnár, President of The American-Hungarian Foundation; the Reverends Paul Kovács and Zoltán Kovács, Administrators of The Bethlen Home; The Rt. Dr. Erwin Betts, Baptist Ministerand Clinical Psychologist; The Rev. András Harto, Pastor Emeritus of The Toledo Hungarian Reformed Church; The Rev. Stephen Sziarto and a Seminary Student, Ben Willford from the German Reformed Church, who is considering to be a part of our Synod, thus reinforcing the obvious trend that Pastors and Seminary Students of our American sister churches find the service in our Synod desirable and in their understanding also fulfilling a true commitment to our Lord. We were again honored by the presence of guests from Hungary. The Rev. László Cserháti, who is studying for his master’s degree at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois and The Rev. Sándor Biro, Retired Pastor from Hungary; Dr. Laszlone Puskas of Budapest, Hungary and last but not least The Rev. Thus, when the congregation is enlivened by the Spirit, then Christ is incarnate in their midst.” Both our Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Zoltán Király, and our General Secretary, The Rev. Dr. Zoltán D. Szucs, in their reports expressed their sorrow, that one of our congregations in Hammond, Indiana is seeking “real identity and growth” by transferring out of the community of The Calvin Synod; though as our Bishop put it “a child could be alienated from her mother, but the mother’s love toward that child never grows cold.” They also pointed out, rejoicing, that at the same time a new and growing congregation is emerging in San Diégo, California, enhanced by the energetic leadership of Rev. Andrew Soltész and they expressed their desire of wanting to join the unity of The Calvin Synod. They and we are also elated about the
