CALVIN SYNOD HERALD — 2 — REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA CALVIN SYNOD NEWS Three important meetings have been called for Feb. 17—20,1985 in Landmark Inn, Wood­­bridge, NJ.: • The Conference Council — all 3 days; • Temporary Administrative Council,— The Hungarian Reformed Church Uniting on Tues., Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon (committees until 5 p.m.); • Permanent Standing Committee — on Preserving Historic Material, on Tues., Feb. 19, 2 p.m. Youth Camp: preparatory meeting was held on Feb. 23 in Perth Amboy, NJ. (P. Hunyady is the convener.) — 1985 is International Youth Year: let us strive to facilitate the process whereby young people can take their place in church and communitv. * Bishop Butosi attended the meeting of the UCC Conference Executives in Savannah, GA on Feb. 7—12, and the gathering of the CAN A AC, World Alliance of Reformed Churches in Princeton, NJ on March 13—16. VACANCIES: • In South Norwalk, CT. the Rev. Eugene S. Szabó (Phoenixville, PA.) was elected on Dec. 2, 1984. He will assume his new position on March 10. The congregation unanimously authorized the consistory to explore the pos­sibility of relocating the church. • In Dayton, OH, the Rev. Raymond F. Kaiser is the supply pastor, and Dean A. Elek, the administrator. • In New York, NY, the Rev. Frank Deák is the supply pastor, and Dean Z. Király, the administrator. Search process of Pulpit Com­mittee moves according to schedule. Interested persons should call the Bishop. • In Springdale, PA, Drs. L. Borsay and R. Almasy are supplying the pulpit. Dean N. No­vak administers. • Phoenixville, PA, seeks a bilingual pastor. Interested persons are to call Dr. J.C. Shetler (Penn S.E. Conf. 215—489-2056). • In Canada, Port Colborn, and Winnipeg are vacant. • Pastors, who moved to their eternal homes, include: Rev. László Fejes, Port Colborn, on Nov. 25,1984; Rev. Dr. Andrew Kosa on Dec. 6, 1984 (buried on Dec. 8 in New Brunswick); Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy on Dec. 27, 1984 in Flor­ida (buried on Jan. 2,1985 in McKeesort, PA.); Rev. Joseph Rasky died in Ligonier and buried in New Brunswick on Jan. 11, 1985. The Funeral of Dr. James I. McCord’s wife, Hazel, took place on Jan. 5, in Princeton, NJ. — Memorial service for Dr. László Harangi was held on Dec. 16, 1984 in Akron, OH. — Bishop Butosi expressed condolances on behalf of our Synod. WINDOWS ON OUR MINISTRY: • Drs. Sándor Havadtoy and László Med­­yesy visited Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil from Nov. 23 through Dec. 6. Their visit was deeply appreciated by all. They are ready to report on their trip and show their hundreds of slides at invitation. Let us use their insights! • “We deeply appreciate the financial sup­port sent through them” — writes the Rev. Imre Szabó of Buenos Aires, Argentina, “with­out the support of Calvin Synod we would not exist.” Mr. A. Banyai, treasurer of our church in Sao Paulo, Brazil writes: “Thank you for the $200 donation of the Synod which was brought by Revs. Havadtoy and Medyesy. Please, keep us in your compassionate support.” To which Rev. János Apostol, pastor adds: “It was a blessing all around!” • In Ethiopia we have a special project: Dr. Elizabeth Fekete, a Hungarian physician works there now for five years among the thousands of leprous people. Their plight is beyond description. The Bridgeport Sunday School just sent $ 100 for her work. Her address is: P.O. Box 4488, Addis Abeba. Ethiopia Financial help can be sent through our Synod or as a bank transfer to “Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, NT/D—8962—1. Hungarian Hymnals The West Side Hungarian Reformed Church of Cleveland would be willing to submit an order for 500 Hungarian hym­nals (Énekeskönyv) and pay for their cost.
