We, Gabor, by the grace of God Prince of the Holy Roman Empire and of Transylvania, lord of the Parts of Hungary, overseer of the Seklers and duke of Oppeln and Ratibor, etc. It belongs to the majesty of princes besides excercising their duties to care for the welfare and eagerly think about the status of their subjects and according to their services rendered to honor and promote them, and to elevate them to a higher esteem; namely the more eminent subjects are under their rule, the greater is the honor of the princes. Therefore, right after our initiation and beginning of our rule, we desired nothing better than to prove our love toward the Lord in all our dealings to favor the Churches of the Lord in every way, and with this act to promote and to prolong God’s glory on future generations. We agree and find it true and fair that those persons who live for the cause of religion and as with a beacon lead the people towards salvation and eternal life, be honored with all respect and reward. This is what we desire now to prove that for the preachers, that is to the ministers of Transylvania and Parts of Hungary, personally and in totality to their sons and daughters and to their descendants of both sexes, and to all of them we award, that not just themselves but all their posterity would inherit the reward of the above mentioned church servants. Therefore on the proposal and recommendation and pleading of many of our faithful councilors to the above mentioned preachers and ministers of Transylvania and Parts of Hungary and to all their sons and daughters, both singularly and totally, as by no means descendants of dubious parents, from the fulness of our princely might and out of social grace we free them and it deems to us to include, register and enroll them among the true, born and indisputable nobility. It was discerned and with a sure insight and premeditated intention permitted that to the above mentioned Transylvania and Parts of Hungary, preachers or ministers personally and totally, to their sons and daughters and to their descendants of both sexes now and in the future would use and enjoy all those privileges, honors, licenses, liberties and exemptions in eternal ages just as the real, born and indisputed nobility of our Transylvania and Parts of HunNos Gabriel gary, used according to old customs and are using and enjoying now. In proof and sign of our inclination of our grace and of our princely magnanimousity, it deemed us fit to donate this coat-of-arms as a sign of real and unquestionable nobility to the above mentioned preachers or ministers, to their sons and daughters, to their descendants of both sexes and their offspring. Namely: Straight-standing military blue shield, on which range or court from a cloud of smoke a half lion is rising taking a Bible from the altar with his left paw, his right paw is lifting towards a descending angel who gives him a sword. On the left side of the angel is a gold inscription: Arte et marté dimicandum (Fight with knowledge and arms). The military helmet above the shield is a royal crown decorated with various pearls and precious stones. From the top of the helmet on both sides, ribbons and shreds descend and surround the shield, as it is indicated on the front and facade of our letter, pointed with hands of the artist and his craft in respective colors. Agreeing, with sure insight and premeditated intention permitting, that they from now on in the future in all times would use this coat-of-arms, that it this sign of nobility, just as other nobles do in Transylvania and in Parts of Hungray. Having the same rights, privileges, licenses, liberties and exemptions as the rest of the true, born and unquestionable nobility of our Transylvania and Parts of Hungary are using and enjoying according to our customs until now legally — let them rejoice everywhere: in battles, fights, lance-breaking, tournaments, duels, single combats and in other knightly and military excercises, also on seals, covers, curtains, rings, flags, shields, tents, home, in general on all and anykind of objects and mountings on titles for distinction that they and their descendants of both sexes and their posterity, no matter what rank and honor they may be, let them be named, addressed, regarded and honored — we desire that they and their posterity of both sexes would rightly use, wave, hold and enjoy. In memory of this cause and for eternal assertion to the future preachers or ministers, to their mentioned sons and daughters, their descendants of both sexes and their posterity, with the power of our hanging and real seal we issue and graciously confirm this our document and permission.
