The Conference voted to form a Task Force to remedy the infestation which was destroying the material, and bring recommendations to the Synodical meeting for the permanent housing and financial underwriting of the collection. Through the good will of one of the churches, temporary housing was found for the collection, which also ended the infestation problem. The Museum-Archive-Library collection of the Hungarian churches will grow as time goes on, therefore, it is of vital importance that the Task Force group discuss the present and future unity of the collection. First meeting: April 8, 1980 at New Brunswick, N.J. Bishop Parragh UCC-DISCIPLES TALKS ARE UNDER WAY NATIONALLY Eighteen representatives of the UCC and Christian Church (Disciples) met in Cincinnati Jan. 21-22 to launch the six-year study between the two communions voted by the UCC General Synod and the CC General Assembly in 1979. This steering committee will focus on three tasks: theology and practice of the sacraments, the nature of ministry and appropriate forms of mission. Resources will be prepared so that all areas of the two denominations — national, regional and local — can participate in the study. UCC President Avery D. Post said, “We have not at this stage covenanted to unite, but we will seek to live our way to union. We will not get to the nitty gritty stuff until the 1990’s.” CC ecumenical officer Paul Crow explained that rapid cultural change has caused “the nature of the unity for the church also to change. We are searching for new answers to the question, ‘What does it mean to be one in Christ?’ ” The steering committee elected Dr. Post and Kenneth Teegarten, CC general minister and president, as co-chairpersons.
