A MAN OF PRAYER, the person who in FAITH and in AWARENESS of God raises his mind heart — in words or wordlessly — to the heavenly Father. A MAN OF GOOD HUMOR, the person who in FAITH and in TRUTH has a sense of humor. A MAN OF PEACE, the person who in FAITH shows in daily life the reality of PEACE that was promised in the song of the angels in Bethlehem: “Peace on earth among men of good will.” HUNGARIAN FESTIVAL at the N.J. Garden State Art Center SEPTEMBER 9, 1978. Official Communications VACATION TIME is here again. Have a good rest, never forgetting that communion with God is as essential to the health of the spirit as communion with true ideas is essential to the health of the mind, and as communion with food and fresh air is essential to the health of body. SINCE OUR ANNUAL MEETING, the Conference Council mailed a letter to the delegates of the 40th Annual Meeting in regard to the Resolution Concerning Bethlen Home, informing them why voting before May 25 was premature and unnecessary. When and if the proposed steps shall have been completed, we shall submit the clear proposal for voting. Pray that in this important issue we may all seek to serve Him in the service of our people! OUR GRADUATES: The Rev. Dr. Eva Fabian received her Master of Divinity degree summa cum laude on May 23 from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. — Ms. Margaret Beretz, daughter of the Rt. Rev. $ Mrs. Arpad L. Beretz, received her Master of Divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago on June 6, 1978. OUR NEW DOCTORS: the General Secretary of our Synod, the Rev. Francis Vitéz received a “Doctor of Ministry” degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary on May 23, 1978. — The same “Doctor of Ministry” degree was conferred upon the Chaplain Major John A. Szilvasy by Eden Theological Seminary in June. He is now enrolled in clinical studies at the Yale New Haven Hospital Center. Evidently “a good minister studies until death...” Congratulations! THE REV. DR. LASLO MEDYESY was elected pastor of our Wallingford, Ct. Church on June 25. Synod Treasurer Zoltán Király presided at the congregational meeting- which unanimously-elected Dr. Medyesy who will start his ministry on Sept. 1, 1978. THE REV. DR. ARTHUR A. LUDWIG celebrated the 20th anniversary of his pastorate at our Indiana Harbor congregation on June 25. Bishop Butosi delivered the message to the packed church and extended the Synod’s greeting at a festive banquet which rejoiced in Dr. Ludwig’s life and fruitful community services. (He is steadily recuperating after several heart attacks.) VACANCY IN PITTSBURGH: Dr. George S. Csia resigned from the pastorate of our Pittsburgh First Hungarian Reformed Church as of August 1, 1978. Interested persons are to call the Bishop’s Office (203-368-3658). THE RT. REV. DEZSŐ ABRAHAM was re-elected bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. At the official installation which takes place on July 3 at Lgonier, Pa., Synod Presbyter Dr. Joseph Piri represents our Synod and extends our prayerful* good wishes. OUR YOUTH CONFERENCE is around the corner. It will be held at First Presbyterian Church Youth Camp, Ligonier, Pa. from Aug. 20 through 26. Registration forms and basic information with rules and regulations have been mailed to pastors by Camp Director Rev. A. Szilagyi, Jr. Please, read the flyer carefully and make every effort to send young people with the right information and motivation to this most promising conference. Let there be no church without representation! Deadline: Aug. 1. OUR HAMMOND CHURCH has begun the construction of a modern parsonage next to the new church. Bishop Butosi visited the congregation on June 25 and heard the beautiful sound of the new organ! (Continued on page 8)
