On March 15 they met with the Bishop’s Council of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. THE YOUTH CAMP of the Synod will be held at Camp Laurelwood, a good Lutheran camp site 7 miles from Ligonier, Pa. on August 8-14. We hope to mail the official invitation in the near future. CLASSIS MEETINGS: The Eastern Classis met on March 28 in South Norwalk, Conn., while the Lake Side Classis comes together at Cleveland, East Side on April 5. THE PALM SUNDAY CONFER­ENCE of the Eastern Classis is sched­uled in Woodbridge, N.J. on April 11. Topic: “The Bicentennial and Our Churches.” Speaker: Rev. Dr. Paul H. Sherry, Executive Associate for Plan­ning U.C. Board For Homeland Min­istries. STATISTICAL REPORTS which were returned promptly with the ex­ception of 3 charges show a loss of 731 members against 276 gains in our 41 congregations. This fact should be a concern for us all! DR. JOSEPH T. PIRI, our Synod Presbyter generously provided a fund to award a cantata for the commemo­ration of freeing the Galley Slaves and also to cover the expenses of its premiere in Hungary. OUR BRIDGEPORT CHURCH launched its bicentennial celebrations by dedicating an American and a Christian flag on Feb. 15 The Bishop conducted the dedication service. Bishop Beretz Honored The Faith United Church of Christ, Hammond, Indiana observed the 15th Anniversary of their pastor, the Rt. Rev. Bishop Arpad L. Beretz on April 4, 1976 at a Worship Service and Testimonial Dinner. Pastors of the different churches in Hammond and in the vicinity took part in the Worship Service. Representa­tives of neighboring churches and civic organizations extended their greetings at the Dinner. It was under the able leadership of Bishop Beretz that the congregation re­located and built their beautiful new church and educational center. MARY SANTO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND Honoring our faithful, longtime member, the late Mrs. Mary Santo, the Mary Santo Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established at Ohio State University by Mr. James G. Ayres and his wife, Irene, of Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Ayres is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Santo. Our church is the grateful recipient of this scholarship and the good service it does for this church and for the youth qualifying for higher education. We consider this as a great witness to the power of Christ who is able to work in our world today through those whom He has called. Mrs. Santo ,her husband, Joseph, and three daughters have been long­time active members of the church and the Hungarian community. The Mary Santo Memorial Scholar­ship will be awarded annually to a full-time student who has been ac­cepted by the Ohio State University and who has met all requirements for the Scholarship and has been approved by the Mary Santo Memorial Scholar­ship Committee. Committee members are: Reverend Zoltán Szabó, Robert M. Hall, Mary K. Marton and Rudolph A. Spano­­vich. Woodrow Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43207 WALLINGFORD INSTALLATION On March 21st at an afternoon Wor­ship Service, the Rev. Dr. László Ber­­zeviczy was installed to the Wallingford pastorate. The following took part in the In­stallation Service: Mr. Nicholas Sze­gedi, chief-elder; R. J. Hinsey who presented a violin solo accompanied by C. Troxell; the Rev. Maria Babos, scripture reading; the Rev. Zoltán Ki­rály, English Prayer; the Rev. Rowe J. Hinsey who delivered the English Sermon; Mrs. Esther Sipos who sang a solo; the Rev. Alexander Babos who delivered the Hungarian Sermon; and the Rev. Francis Vitéz, Prayer in Hun­garian. Bishop John Butosi and Dean Leslie Egry installed Dr. Berzeviczy into his new pastorate. Following the Worship Service, a Banquet in honor of the new Pastor was held in the Hungarian House Auditorium. Toastmaster for the pro­gram was Rev. Király. Clergy from the different churches along with their delegates were introduced, different church and civic organizations were recognized, who expressed their con­gratulations and presented gifts to the newly installed pastor and his wife. PALM SUNDAY CONFERENCE The Eastern Classis of Calvin Synod held their 23rd Palm Sunday Confer­ence in the Woodbridge Hungarian Re­formed Church. The conference was opened by the Rev. Leslie Egry, Dean of the Eastern Classis, pastor loci, after which the Rev. Francis Vitéz conducted the Open­ing Devotions. The theme of the con­ference was “Our Church and the Bi­centennial.” The message following along with the theme was presented by the Rev. Paul Sherry, Executive As­sistant for Planning, United Church Board for Homeland Ministries. Fol­lowing the message by Rev. Sherry, the participants formed three groups for discussions: the English group with the Rev. Dr. Alexander Havadtoy as moderator with a special presentation by Mrs. Alexander Havadtoy; the Hun­garian group with Bishop John Butosi, moderator; and the Youth Group with Rev. Zoltán Király as moderator. The Closing Devotions were led by Rev. Egry. Following the Devotions, a Din­ner was served in the auditorium prepared by the women of the local congregation. * Who has deceived you so often as yourself?
