2 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD United Church Board for Homeland Ministries Reverend Arpad L. Beretz Calvin Synod Acting Conference 7520 Woodmar Avenue Hammond, Indiana 46323 Dear Brother Beretz: You may recall we initiated an effort last year to obtain a group policy for all our churches to permit congregations to protect themselves against misappropriation of church funds by employees of the congregation, or officials, or committee members, whether compensated or not. As you know, such misappropriations, though rare, can be disastrous to a church in terms of both finances and congregational morale. Last year’s effort required 50% participation and a more expensive premium than we now have succeeded in negotiating. Indeed, the new rates are so minimal that no church need be without this urgently needed protection. Nine ($9.) dollars will protect a congregation for three years against misappropriations up to Ten Thousand ($10,000.) Dollars. (Subject to a $100. deductible for each loss.) This minimal premium is made possible by the Board’s expectation that a majority of our churches will enroll. Acceptance by 1,000 churches, however, will be sufficient to put the plan into effect. An open enrollment period, extending to December 31, 1974, should provide sufficient time for churches to discuss the proposal and have questions answered. If the required number accept, the coverage will become effective on January 1, 1975. I need hardly point out to you the importance of this coverage. We need your help, however to notify STATEMENT OF OWNERSHIP, MANAGEMENT AND CIRCULATION Title of Publication: Calvin Synod Herald — Reformátusok Lapja. Date of filing: October 18, 1974.
