MORION Associate Minister FLOYD E. SCHLEGEL Minister of Music NEWS ITEMS The Eastern Classis held their Spring Meeting in South Norwalk, Conn, on March 16th. * January 23, 1974 Rev. Francis Vitéz 493 Amboy Avenue Perth Amboy, N.J. 08861 Dear Pastor Vitéz: I read with interest Bishop Beretz’s call to support the new Hungarian Bible publication (Calvin Synod Herald, January 1974). I believe it is a worthwhile effort, deserving of support, and would like to contribute the enclosed check for that project. Our congregation has also just recently sent Hungarian Bibles to the Református Egyházi Szaloda, in Budapest, through the American Bible Society, to replace the worn copies that were in the guest rooms. How great it shall be for all Hungarians to have a new revised version of the scriptures available. Yours truly, r£— Ernest Miko Pastor EM/mi Enc. (1) P.S. I enjoy reading the Calvin Synod Herald and find it to be an interesting and informative contact with work in the Hungarian churches. Thank you for sending it to me. The combined Hungarian parishes in Perth Amboy and Woodbridge (Re formed, Roman and Greek Catholic) held their observance of March 15th (Hungarian Independence Day) together in St. Michael’s School Auditorium. * The Youth Fellowship of the South Norwalk Church sponsored a Youth Rally and supper which was well attended. * The ministers of the Eastern Classis held their monthly meeting on February 15 in New York City at the Interchurch Center. * Dr. Valentine Toth, former pastor of the Lorain, Ohio Hungarian Reformed Church, was appointed Municipal Judge in Lorain. The installation was attended by many Hungarians in the community as well as local officials and friends of the family. iiiiiimimmimmmmmiiimiiiimmim 21st Palm Sunday Conference in English and in Hungarian for men, women and young people Sponsored by THE EASTERN CLASSIS OF THE CALVIN SYNOD UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST PALM SUNDAY, APRIL 7, 1974 John Calvin Magyar Reformed Church 493 Amboy Avenue, Perth Amboy, N.
