REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA 7 I was designed to hold any amount you want to give. I look much better made fat with a love olfering than I do flat, unsealed, and useless. I have no power over myself. I am your servant. I had counted so much on going to the Lord’s church treasury on my designated day. I can tell you about your spiritual life, too. When I am used I speak of a sincere Christian who is interested in the things of God’s Kingdom. I could have been filled (and still can be) and taken to church, even though you missed attending on my Sunday. Because I am still unused I speak of limits placed on God’s work. Do you hear the cry of children without parents, do you see the sick without care, the ignorant untaught, the mission church not built, the Bibles not sent, the gospel not preached, the lost without hope? I could have helped to meet these needs if I had been used. I wanted to. You didn’t fail me; you failed God. I am empty and heartbroken. Look at me! Let me touch your conscience and stir your heart. Use us for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ. Truthfully YOUR UNUSED ENVELOPE Christ U.C.C. Bulletin, Bethlehem, Pa. Official Communications (cont.) WORLD ALLIANCE OF REFORMED CHURCH Bishop Beretz attended the North America Area Conference of the World Alliance in Stony Point, N.Y. on January 8-10, 1974 as a delegate from the United Church of Christ. DAYTON MIRACLE On November 11, 1973, a new church building and social hall was dedicated in Dayton, Ohio by Bishop Beretz and Dean Szabó. We are happy in the Lord that this congregation in two years was able to transform itself from a dying church to a church quickened and alive. On this great day, the pastor, the Rev. Tibor Petroczy was installed as pastor by Bishop Beretz and Dean Szabó. We send the people of Dayton, Ohio and its consistory under the leadership of Dezső Melegh, our sincere and well deserved congratulations. REV. KECSKEMÉTHY RETIRES On March 31, 1974, Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, pastor of our Passaic church and Synod Treasurer will retire from the active ministry. His long and fruitful ministry amongst us will serve as a memorial and tribute to an outstanding pastor and leader. May God bless him in his retirement and continue to use him for His purposes and glory. REV. LŐRINCZ CALLED The Rev. Tibor Lorincz of Philadelphia, Pa. was elected pastor of Karmel Church in Philadelphia. He was under Synod care while a student at Princeton Seminary and also worked to establish a Hungarian church in Philadelphia. May God bless him in his new assignment. BISHOP HOSPITALIZED On December 2, 1973, Bishop Beretz entered Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago for a check-up and ended up by having surgery. He has fully recovered and is back in the pulpit and office. The Rev. Joseph Marsalko, General Secretary, also had surgery in Wallingford, Conn. He was able to be in the pulpit for Christmas and is now making a good recovery. Mrs. Eleanor Kish, Secretary to Bishop Beretz, was hospitalized and underwent surgery on November 28, 1973 in Munster Hospital. She is now back at work for Synod and the congregation. Our apologies if during this “surgical” outbreak we were late in answering the mail.
