Join Hands Day (continued) June 16lh was a day like no other with adults, young people and children working together. For this year’s project we helped a family no longer able to maintain their property. We brought plants and sowed a vegetable garden. We trimmed trees, shrubs and weeded the flowerbed. Children from the neighborhood helped water the plants, pull weeds and gather the debris, while proud parents looked on. The family was grateful. Peggy Fabri, Br. Manager, Br. 151, Beaver Falls, PA Benevolent Works Extended by Our Branches Breakfast for Needy Children Under the auspices of Mrs. Elizabeth Medgyesi, wife of Bishop Louis Medgyesi, HRFA Br. 3 of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, participates in the “Breakfast Bunch” program, which is a community faith project. This project provides a healthy breakfast to approximately 31 to 35 youngsters in the local elementary school on a daily basis. This is not a government-sponsored project, and there is great need for these children. Elizabeth Ticel, Br. Secretary, Br. 3, Fairport Harbor, OH Raising Funds for the Church A group of 30 dedicated people of Br. 182, Flint, Michigan, gathered at the Heritage Church on Davison Road to prepare 2,100 lbs. of kolbász for fundraising. We finished this enormous task in one day, thanks to our hardworking crew. We thank the Lord for the mortgage we received from the Federation, without which we could have never built our new church. Since the standing of the new building, many young couples attend the services and activities together with their children. We have quite a large number of children for which we are also very thankful. Tibor Nagy, HRFA Director Music Stirs Hearts at the Nursing Home On Friday, June 22, Home Office employee Ralph Bohn gave a recital concert on piano accordion for elderly patients at Manor Care Nursing Home in Largo, Maryland. Sari Spevak, a good and old time friend of our branch, who works as a medical registrar in the home, heard Ralph play at our picnic and thought it would be a good idea to ask him to play on International Day, a multicultural potluck festivity at the home. Ralph gladly agreed. 45 I
