Christian University’s choir on tour, providing a tour of the Statue of Liberty. Help was also given to seminary students here and in Slovakia. The Lorántffy Women’s Guild organized the church’s hospitality at all events, and distributed flowers at the Mother’s Day Service. They tried mightily to bring the town’s women together into a united group, exploring ways for joint worship and service. Their annual fund raiser was successful again, and the ladies contributed $5,000 to the church, along with their charitable gifts. They also continued to build friendships with area HRCA churches, participating in Hungarian Reformed Church Women United. The Consistory recommended resolutions to Calvin Synod, which were adopted by the delegates at the Annual Meeting in May: To affirm the Boys Scouts of America rejection of homosexual leadership and to keep the Synod’s churches door open to the Scouts. To prohibit use of the Synod’s churches and/or participation by any of its ministers or officers in pseudo-marriages of homosexuals; and To reaffirm the Synod’s resolve to remain a Synod and to function accordingly in consonance with Reformed policy in governing the churches. It met monthly, except in Summer, and oversaw numerous improvements to the church’s buildings and parsonage. The Pastor was elected Co-Editor of the Calvin Synod Herald/ Reformátusok Lapja, in charge of the English language portion, while continuing to head up the management, circulation and financial aspects, and developing Trustees of the Bethlen Museum and Archives Corporation, as well, as on the Synod’s Archives Committee and several others. He has been the Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern District of the American Hungarian Ministerial Association. During the Summer he represented the Synod in Hungary as its representative at both the Hungarian Reformed Consultative Convent and at the World Federation. Rev. Albert J. Kovács 106
