Kálvin Egyházkerület - Calvin Synod - Keleti Egyházmegye - Eastern Classis

NORWALK, CONNECTICUT Calvin Reformed Church Norwalk, Connecticut Pastor: Rev, Leslie E. Martin Chief Elder: Mr. William Tingets On February 11, 2001, we came together to worship God in the tradition of our forefathers. The church invited Rev. Leslie E. Martin to preach and immediately following our service, elected him to be our next Pastor. He began serving our church as Pastor on April 1, 2001. We held a welcoming luncheon in honor of Rev. Martin and his wife, Linda Martin. On Wednesday evenings through the Lenten Season, we got together for Lenten night and watched videos about the earthly life of Jesus Christ and held Bible discussions. These were well attended. On Saturday before Palm Sunday, we held our annual Kolbász and Pastry Sale. It was fun and a great success! It seems our lives together have remained full and lively. We have gotten together for various luncheons and socials during the course of the year. Rev. Martin has played guitar and sang to us on several occasions. We had our most successful Harvest Fair ever in November. Our income from this single event in which we serve various Hungarian foods and have craft tables, was over $8000. Easter Services and Christmas services were well planned and well attended. Our Pastor represented our church at the monthly Eastern Area Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association meetings, our Annual Eastern Classis Meeting, our Synod Annual Meeting in Western Pennsylvania in May, the monthly Norwalk Area Ministerial Association, and at various meetings and services at other churches, including Fairfield, Bridgeport, Woodbridge, NJ, Passaic, NJ, and Trenton, NJ to name a few. Rev. Martin continues to visit our congregational families at home. In addition he visits our brothers and sisters who are in the hospitals, convalescent homes, Statistically, we have had no baptisms or marriages in the year 2001, and there were ten funerals and/or memorial services. We continue to pray for God’s comforting and healing power for those who have lost a loved one, and for those who are suffering in hospitals, convalescent homes, or at home. 101
