Tóparti Egyházmegye - Lakeside Classis

The Pentecost celebration this year saw no confirmands, but the Membership Committee was hard at work, to find new ways to bring people into our church. After our Father’s Day celebration they organized a Welcome and Homecoming Sunday with luncheon. We welcomed a young family with 3 children, and their grandma to our midst. During the summer a large landscaping project took place around the Kossuth Hall. A new lawnmower tractor was purchased from Sears. Rev. Nitsch underwent a successful prostate cancer operation. Rev. Kaiser visited and served in our church after our Pastor’s operation. It was good to see Rev. Kaiser again, who retired after serving here for 14 years, to San Diego, California. Rev. Nitsch and Mrs. Olesh represented our church at the Labor Day Conference. Andy Dobó, an elder, a “56-er” himself, remembered the Freedom Day in October. Rev. Nitsch delivered the English sermon at our bishop’s church, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, at that church’s 90th Anniversary. The Grape Festival was the best attended in the last decade. In the fall we had a major project, installing a new roof on the Kossuth Hall for $60,000. The Ladies’ Aid Christmas Bazaar was not so well attended, due to the beautiful weather, but it was a financial success nevertheless. We made our fresh and smoked sausage again, over 1,200 lbs. Before the Hungarian Christmas Eve candlelight service we offered a family style dinner to the 30 young people who work in our area, from Hungary. We opened our new Community Room to a neighborhood ballet dance group that practices here twice a week. We gained already a family through them, and the girls come and help with our Salvation Army cooking every month, when we prepare 150 meals for the homeless. The Hungarian language classes continue every week. Our Csiga (Noodles) ladies are busy every Tuesday making the traditional noodles. Fellowship after church 75
