Steven Geczy Chief Elder (English): Edward Szabó Chief Elder (Hungarian): Steve Hunyadi As we recall all the events of the past year, we rejoice what God has done, is doing, and will do through our people and ministries. The life of our Church in Walton Hills reflects the spiritual commitment and the financial generosity of our people. The hours of work offered to the ministries of First Church to meet the needs of a changing Hungarian Reformed milieu in Greater Cleveland have been countless. My deepest appreciation to Ed Szabó and Steven Hunyadi, chief elders of the English and Hungarian part of our Church Family, for their leadership; to the Consistory, Cabinet, the various Committees and the hard working Noodle Makers, the Lorantffy Circle, the Women’s Guild and for all who unselfishly and untiringly use their time, talents and treasures to the ministries of the kingdom of God in the First Hungarian Reformed Church. I thank God for the partnership I share with: Judith Bluhm, Organist; Cindy Smith, Sunday School Superintendent, Barbara Rayer, Treasurer, Susan Jacob, Secretary - they are a competent, committed and caring staff who give their very best. All through these pages you will see that a prime resource for our ministry has always been the generous contribution of time and effect of individuals whom God has called through the voice of this congregation to lead us in compassionate ministry. In this, my fourth year in which I am privileged to be the Pastor of the First Hungarian Reformed Church in Cleveland, it is my happy privilege to share with readers of the Bethlen Almanac a reflection on our past and present, and a picture of how we are going into God’s future. Below are some of my pastoral goals that I established in this past year. Not everything was accomplished and inevitably many remain in process and some are there to work on in 2001 and beyond.
