American Hungarian Foundation celebrates 45th anniversary

Elsewhere during the 45th anniversary year of the Foundation presented its Abraham Lincoln Award to Dr. Julianna Puskás in Toledo at the Convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America; Dr. Leslie Koltai in Los Angeles; Dr. George C. Szegő at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; and Andrew Kalman in Palm Beach, FL. On Saturday, June 3, as part of the all-day 25th annual Hungarian Festival in New Brunswick, NJ, which is attended by some 15,000 visitors, the museum courtyard of the Foundation was transformed again into a Budapest Coffee House. This time, two pastry chefs from the Central Coffee House of Budapest prepared the tempting, choice selections. The annual concert in the courtyard presented Hungarian choral music and a folk ensemble from Transylvania at six o’clock in the evening to entertain an audience of over 500. We invite you to make a generous contribution and/or pledge to the Phase 2 Funding Challenge. Phase One raised $3 million in capital hinds to build the Museum, Library and Archives center. Now donors have an opportunity in Phase 2 to provide program and endowment funds as part of the $ 10 million goal. The Foundation has been supported with generous grants by the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the William Penn Association. Recently, the Foundation and the Bethlen Museum and Archives, Inc. entered upon a mutual program of cataloging the Bethlen Archives collection, which was transferred from Ligonier, PA to the New Brunswick archives of the Foundation. The American Hungarian Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt publicly supported organization with its national headquarters located at the Hungarian Heritage Center, 300 Somerset Street, PO Box 1084, New Brunswick, NJ 08903. Tel: 732-846-5777, Fax 832-249-7033, Email: info@ahfoundation.org. L. to r.: László Papp, Prof. August Molnár and Dr. Arpad Göncz at the Library and Archives of the American Hungarian Foundation on November 16,2000. 185
