Közép Egyházmegye - Central Classis

There are also some greater events, when Hungarians outside the congregation are targeted as well, one of them being the very successful “Szüreti Bal”. The English and the Hungarian Choir is performing on each corresponding service; the practices being kept each Wednesday. Our congregation has a very wide mission program, offering substantial help in more than 14 places in the world. Seven of these are in Hungarian inhabited parts of Europe, other seven in different charity and society-building organizations in the United States. Nevertheless, our Mission occasionally helps individuals in critical situations. Such a situation was that of Balogh Timea whose liver transplant would not have been possible without the generous help of many members of our congregation. We also participate in common programs with different churches in the neighborhood, such as the “Crop Walk” when we gathered money for famine stricken parts of the world, and the Vacation Bible School, being very popular among the children. Naturally, the congregation helps all those Hungarians who turn up in this part of the world, regardless if they decide to stay here or not. We welcome visiting pastors and enjoy their sermons. For the year 2001 Rev. Cseri Kalman accepted this role, so he will be the guest of our congregation if God keeps him in good health. The main purpose of our congregation is to strengthen with God’s help and to reach out to former and new members (a process during which the pastor’s visitations have to be constant). Due to this unceasing work, our congregation grew with 24 new members in the last threequarters of the years. Henceforward, the congregation would like to offer shelter and spiritual nourishment through God’s gifts to those in spiritual need, regardless of age, mother tongue and background. Rev. István Kacsó-Kállay, Pastor 121
