Bethlen Almanac 1999 (Ligonier)
The Bethlen Home
Residents also had the opportunity to dress up in gowns and tuxes for our Harvest Ball, which was held in October. Our lady residents were surprised to receive their own personal escort for the evening. The escorts were students from St. Vincent College. Needless to say, our ladies were delighted to have such handsome escorts for the evening. Several residents, staff members and volunteers participated in the Alzheimer’s Walk, which was held at Twin Lakes State Park this past fall. Staff member Pat Armel of Social Service headed up the program to raise funds for this worthy cause. The Home consisted of several teams headed under the title of “Armel’s Army.” The Bethlen Home came in first place and was presented with a trophy for the most funds raised and for group attendance. The trophy is proudly displayed in the Social Service and Admissions Office. Besides helping a worthy cause, residents enjoyed a beautiful fall day out of the facility. Prizes were awarded and presented to several of our staff members. Residents and staff were also presented with shirts honoring the event. Many thanks to the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the Bethlen Home for their contributions and support to the Alzheimer’s Association. Sherry A. Humberton, Activity Director 44 Residents and their escorts from St. Vincent College enjoy the evening at our Harvest Ball. Congratulations to the volunteer staff walkers and residents of the Bethlen Home on a well deserved first place!
