dent John Kenawell. John gave us a brief history of the estate and then Jay proceeded to give us a tour of the Mansion. The walk through of its many rooms, all decorated in unique styles or themes proved so fascinating that I had decided early on that a return trip for closer viewing was a certainty. A car tour of the 535 acre estate overlooking the Ohio Valley was next on the agenda. The facility once boasted 32 buildings but only approximately eight remain. Other than the Mansion, my personal favorite is the original Spring House. The architecture and construction of these buildings down to the massive bam is simply extraordinary. After a lengthy though pleasant drive from home and a walk and car tour, the 6 p.m. bell for dinner was a welcomed sound. An Ecumenical Prayer Service began at 7:15 p.m. followed by Rev. Drotos, one of the participants. During the Hospitality Hour, which started at 9:00 p.m. and lasted well past midnight, we had the opportunity to “pick the brains” of the top producing professional agents of the CKA. Undoubtedly, this was the most important aspect of our attendance at the meeting. After an opening prayer by Rev. Drotos on Wednesday, President Kenawell disclosed preliminary plans to create a Residential Board and Care Facility, Independent Living and Retreat Facility. Various new products were discussed, such as the “Capital Needs Analysis Program”, “Prescription Savings Card”, “Life Guard #10”, an optimum protection for life, accident and specific illnesses, Long Term Care and others. Interspersed throughout the morning and afternoon sessions, “The Adventures of Bob” were shown on video. They depicted the experiences of an agent during his typical duties of making appointments, developing referrals and prospecting. They are hilarious, to say the least. Wednesday evening there was a Banquet also attended by the Mayor of Wellsburg, Mr. Ernest Jack and his wife Shirley. Production awards were given to those agents selling one, two and three million dollars in face value. The following morning we were off to attend the meetings at the Bethlen Home in Ligonier and the William Aros Golf Tournament. On behalf of those attending the sales meeting, I take this opportunity to thank Secretary Csornán for his invitation and to John Kenawell and Jay Schenk for their courtesy and professionalism extended us during our most enjoyable stay. Michael Pauli, Jr., Director 12
