The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America

ON THE THRESHOLD OF 2000 We stand on the threshold of the new millennium with great anticipation, feeling sanctity in our hearts and souls and wishing for all of humanity a blessed New Year. Every new year brings similar feelings but the new millennium magnifies the impression that truly, we belong not only to our own small nuclear family, but also to the fellowship of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, our American community at large, and indeed, all of humanity. We will be celebrating two events this year. The year 2000 is the 1000th anniversary of our first king Vajk’s (Saint Stephen’s) coronation, which you can see depicted on the cover of our calendar. 2000 is also the 104th anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. If we start to think about what was happening 1000 years or 100 years ago, if we look back upon the whole journey and all of its difficulties and achievements, then our hearts should feel strong gratitude towards those who had the vision, faith and hope to create a new country and a new organization. In this special anniversary year, I send my gratitude, along with those of the other National Officers and Directors, to all who aided and enhanced the growth of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America this past year. May God give our Federation a new year which will be remembered decades from now as rich and fruitful with happiness and with blessings. May God give the entire Hungarian community, here as well as in the old country a very Happy New Year! George Dózsa, President Szent István koronája. Saint Stephen 's Crown. 3
