Születésnapot köszöntők. The church had now grown to 132 members. In May 1909, with financial help from Presbytery, the stone church building was acquired at Franklin and Thompson Streets (one block north of Girard Avenue). The Zsuzsanna Lorantffy Ladies Aid Society, newly organized, bought the organ. Presbytery funds again assisted in purchasing the parsonage on August 5, 1919. Young people’s work flourished. A decline set in by the end of the 1920’s; at the close of 1929 there were 45 members. In the 1930’s, worship in English began to be held also, and a Sunday School functioned. Finances improved and a new organ was purchased in 1939. A church choir was organized, and bilin­gual services conducted. Membership increased to 138 in 1947. Weekly offering envelopes were introduced in the mid-1950’s. When the con­gregation celebrated its 50lh anniversary, President Eisenhower sent congratulations. 1 As the Fifties ended, the congregation became polarized around .. both a Bible Study group led by R^y^JyilmDavid, and a contingent r' interested more in cultural and social projects. Membership scattered during the ensuing power struggle. Finally, Presbytery dissolved the pastoral relationship and dissolved the First Magyar Church, selling the facilities. Worship services ceased for a time, although Rev. David con­tinued his Bible circle privately elsewhere. 212
