Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop Emeritus Chief Elder: Ernest Balogh During the year there were three events in the life of our Congregation, which we will remember here: 1. The Pastor’s second term as Bishop came to an end and Calvin Synod honored him with the title of Bishop Emeritus. 2. The new Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi visited our Congregation on October 25th and preached at our Wor­ship Service. 3. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Gustav Bolcskei from Debrecen vis­ited our Congregation on September 6* and preached in the Church. Worship services were held each Sunday and the other holidays. There were 46 English services, 11 combined English and Hungarian ser­vices, a total of 57 worship services. Attendance at the English services was 693, at the combined services 298, a total of 991. Holy Communion was administered at 7 services with 217 par­taking in the Church and 11 in the hospitals or at home, a total of 228. The largest attendance was on Easter Sunday, April 12 with 67 partak­ing. The Pastor and Church members attended and took part in the Community Service on Good Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. The March 15lh Hungarian Flag Raising was held at City Hall Park, fol­lowed by a luncheon at the Kirkland Place Church Auditorium. The World Day of Prayer Service was held at the Salvation Army Head­quarters with the Pastor and some members in attendance. The Pastor attended the opening ceremonies of the Crop Walk and offered the opening prayer. PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY 76
