tian life. It is our prayer that lives will be touched and people will come to know God in a personal way through our ministries. Two hundred twenty children attended our second annual Vacation Bible School in July. The American Hungarian Reformed Church is one of five churches participating in this endeavor to reach out to our community. Next year, our goal is to have three hundred children in attendance. Fall -1998 Our small group Bible studies resumed in September. We had studies in English and Hungarian. It is a blessing to study with those eager to learn about God’s Word. In November, our church enjoyed another Grape Festival. The Hungarian heritage becomes so real as the tradition of the Grape Festival is celebrated. Evangelist Rick Amato joined us for a weekend in December. He first spoke at the Men’s breakfast. The following morning he spoke during the morning service. Rick’s testimony was dynamic. The Sunday morning service was particularly powerful. Rick has described that day as the worst day of his life - his mother had died that morning. His decision to speak to us was a testimony of love, obedience and God’s grace. We are ending this year of 1998 by saying “Goodbye” to Rev. Attila and Connie Szemesi. Their plans are to go to Europe and are seeking God’s direction for their lives. Both Reverend Attila and Connie will be greatly missed. They are very loving and caring and are very loved by this congregation - we will miss them. THE FUTURE As we enter the year 1999, we look forward with anticipation. We are seeking God’s guidance for a new Hungarian speaking associate pastor. This will be another year of change. Our prayer is that God will guide this congregation and that we will have willing hearts and wisdom to following His leading. Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Burbridge, Senior Pastor ** ** Rev. Szemesi is no longer affiliated with the church. 126
