As the newly elected Pastor, my family and I arrived on February 2nd 1998 to Dayton, from Quebec, Canada. The congregation had a difficult year without a Pastor and we have by now become fully immersed in the life of our new church. Ilona, my wife is very active with our women, cooking, baking, etc. The boys, Andrew and Daniel are very helpful with the upkeep of the grounds and our beautiful Hall. The most important event of the year is the addition to our church, which was approved in April at the congregational meeting. We are build­ing a 45 feet, two floor extension, with an elevator. The downstairs will have a big meeting room and small kitchenette, the upstairs will have two Sunday School rooms, two offices and archive room. The Pastor’s office can be used for Bible study, or confirmation classes. The project will be finished, hopefully, by the end of February, 1999. Along the way, we held our regular yearly events, along all the holi­days and holy communions, we hosted a “Day of Caring Breakfast”, the March 15Ih Banquet, baked for the 3 day World A’Fair, enjoyed several picnics, had our Grape Festival, Christmas Bazaar, etc. We have a Good Fellowship Club that cooks every month for the homeless, for the Salva­tion Army (150 meals).
