We are grateful to God and to our members for another year in God’s service. It takes quite an effort just to maintain ourselves both in programs and in financial survival. The Hungarian and English worship services draw a weekly average of 109 people; the Hungarian is still better attended. Separate Sunday Schools, confirmation classes, weekly Bible Fellowships, bilingual choir round out our spiritual activities. The Consistory, the Women’s Guild and the Calvin Brotherhood are stronger on the English side, but when it comes to hard work and contribution there is no language difference. We are also grateful to our Bingo workers who have been working for nineteen years; their contribution reaches far beyond our survival; they enable us to contribute significantly to several mission projects. In 1997 six, in 1998 five young persons took their confirmation exams; in addition, twenty new members joined our church in 1997. Yet, due to death and other causes, our actual increase was only four. Several times during the year we sang together with the Mindszenty Choir, as evidence of ecumenical cooperation.
