Bethlen Almanac 1997 (Ligonier)
The Bethlen Home
Summertime is always a fun time here at the Home. Residents enjoy being outdoors from dawn to dusk, taking in the view on our beautiful patio. The picnics are always a huge success. Outdoor activities such as volleyball, senior Olympics and gardening are held for the residents throughout the summer months. Volunteers are a very vital part of our nursing home. Although we have a very small group, it is very dedicated to and supportive of our Home and its residents. You always find them with a smiling face and a listening ear. Volunteers assist in a variety of areas: from outings, crafts, one-on-one visitation to providing services to the Home such as passing lunch trays and assisting residents with personal items such as writing letters or hanging a picture on the wall. The Activity Department Staff and the Bethlen Home recognize their importance by having a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and award presentation in the spring during National Volunteer Recognition Week in May of each year. During the holiday season, a luncheon is also held for those volunteers and residents who worked so hard in preparing and making the fall bazaar fundraiser such a great success.
