The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America

L At the Kossuth Club of Indiana This year’s celebration was a united effort of the Kossuth Club, the Holy Trinity Church (with the great help of Father Skerl) and the Hungarian Baptist Assembly from Chicago. This latter group consists of many young energetic individuals who came from Erdély where they fought for their Hungarian identity. Due to the large number of guests, we had to hold this commemorative program in the church. The program began with the singing of the American and Hungarian anthems. The late president of the Kossuth Club, Julius Simon, greeted the guests and narrated the program. András Demeter recited the “Nemzeti dal” and read the 12 points. Marika Kovács recited “Feltámadt a tenger.” Kati Horzsa sang two beautiful Hungarian songs. At the end of the program, Joe Kovács and the late Julius Simon awarded $500 scholarships of the HRFA to three deserving students: Mandy Imre, Mark Ennsmann and Michael A. Csemak. The delicious dinner “borjú paprikás nokedlival” was prepared by the Horzsa family and their helpers. All enjoyed it, and all had a good time. Steve Mischak, Secretary, Kossuth Club 38
