faithful service. At the luncheon, Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan reminisced about his early days at the Staten Island church as a younger minister 51 years ago. Rev. Stefan Torok, Dean, and Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop, Calvin Conference also attended with their wives. At the same time, we are happy to report 2 new additions to our family: Leslie Martin and his wife Linda. Les, president of the American Hungarian Reformed Presbyters’ Association, has begun a three-year study program at Princeton Theological Seminary. Effective September 21st he will provide layman worship services here in Staten Island each Sunday. Les had visited us many times in the “old days” when he was involved with the Youth Fellowship, and now we welcome him back in a different role. Aside from organizing a full calendar of events such as the annual bazaar, Chinese auctions and kolbasz-making, our strength as a congregation was certainly tested this year as we faced this transition. We continually pray to our Lord for his love and blessings so that we may continue to worship as a Hungarian Reformed congregation in this house of worship.
