DAVISON, MI Pastor: Rev. Zoltán S. Sutto Chief Elder: Gerald Nagy The Heritage Church, United Church of Christ in Davison, Michigan The Heritage Church, United Church of Christ, formerly the Hungarian Reformed Church of Flint, Michigan, is alive and well in our new building which is located in the suburbs of Flint. Since our new building’s dedication in September of 1996, things have been very busy. We have had weekly services in English for our congregation; however, we have not forgotten our heritage and we have held special Hungarian remembrances for the 1956 Revolution and a March 15th service and dinner. Also as a request of several members of the congregation, we have started a Hungarian hymn singing after our regular worship service for those who would like to have a “mini” Hungarian service. Attendance has been good, and, hopefully, we will be able to get some of our English speaking members to join us. Our Sunday School program continues along very well and the staff has just begun a three year program to go through the entire Bible with the children. To do this, they use storytellers, puppets, crafts and, of course, the Holy Bible. This past Summer we had our first Vacation Bible School and it was a success. The staff worked hard in preparation and the results were better than expected. The local newspaper even came out and did a full page article on the children and teachers. Last spring we had a New Members class and four new members were added to the church roll. Another class is planned before the end of the year. A Men’s Club has been formed and the members have taken it upon themselves to do most of the landscaping that is necessary around the new building. They have also had two outstanding dinners that were open to the public and very well received. Finally, we cannot forget the Women’s Guild and all of the services that they provide for the church. In addition, to the regular bake sales and running the semi-annual sausage sales, they have begun a once a month dinner to help in the Building Fund of the Church. The Heritage Church is doing its best to help accomplish the Great Commission that was given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ, and we continually pray that we will be able to bring more of His people to Him by preaching the Gospel, visiting the sick, caring for the helpless and by showing the world through our actions what Christianity really means.
