tion at the communion services was higher than the Sunday worship service. It is a beautiful tradition that on Christmas, poinsettias and on Easter, lilies decorate the sanctuary. Steve Peter Vargo does this tremendous work.

Chief Elder Wilburn A. Roby, Jr. was elected to serve as Synod Treasurer. This event was celebrated by a special installation service conducted by the Rt. Rev. Auxiliary Bishop Louis Medgyesi, followed by a dinnerdance in the Duquesne Country Club.

The Women’s Guild is the engine of all social activities. They are ever faithful and dedicated. The president is Mrs. Nancy Hoffman, kitchen chairman Virginia Roby, and vice president Elsie Vargo. The food fair in October was the talk of the city.

The Women’s Guild hosted the annual women’s conference which was very well attended by the women of the sister churches. Mrs. Ilona Komjáthy spoke about the historic ministry of Lorantffy Zsuzsanna.

In the fall of 1997, we started a confirmation class on Saturday mornings. The Sunday School doubles its attendance. We have now two classes. The teachers are Cindy Toth and Patricia McLean.

A Springdale-i Magyar Református Egyházközség alapítása 1904- ben történt. A chestwicki bányaszerencsétlenség tragikus eseményére nyúlik vissza. Már 1909-ben a gyülekezet a saját templomában dicsérhette az Urat. A mostani szép templom, valamint a társadalmi termek 1967-től a William Penn tulajdonából kerültek át az egyház birtoklásába. Mint mindig, úgy az elmúlt esztendőkben is, a gyülekezet gondosan karban tartja a templomot és annak környékét. A gyülekezet adakozó lelkületű, s így anyagi gondok nincsenek. Az évekkel ezelőtt történt lelki megrázkódtatásból a gyülekezet kigyógyult. Az istentiszteleteket minden vasárnap és ünnepnap alkalmával 11 órai kezdettel rendszeresen megtartjuk. Az Úr szent jegyeit az Egyház régen bevett szokása szerint templomunkban és betegeinknek is kiszolgáltatjuk. Gyengélkedő, idős testvéreinkkel szüntelen törődünk.

Immár két esztendeje, hogy Posta József lelkipásztor Ligonierból szolgálja be a gyülekezetét párhuzamosan a johnstowni egyházzal. A nagy
