synodical council to discuss the possibility of withdrawal from the UCC. The meeting took place in cordial, Christian spirit.

The Johnstown church needs emergency repairs as Chief Elder Nicholas Kovács reported. Through the mediation of Synod (also Classis) Treasurer Wilburn A. Roby, Jr., the Dayton church donated $1500 to help the Johnstown church. Rev. Joseph Posta faithfully serves Johnstown every Sunday along with the Springdale church, where the harmony within the congregation was restored. The Classis appreciates the ministry of Rev. Posta in both congregations.

Pittsburgh celebrated the election of Wilburn A. Roby, Jr. as Synod Treasurer with a solemn worship service and a dinner-dance followed. In the Advent season, the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation made a visitation of our church. The Women’s Guild was the engine of many activities. On May 4, 1997 they hosted the successful 45th Women’s Conference of Western Pennsylvania.

We are happy to report that Rev. Nicholas Novak is the chaplain of the Bethlen Home in Ligonier and takes care of the worship services.

Vintondale is served once a month by Rev. Paul Kovács.

A közel 90 éve alakult gyülekezet még meglévő maroknyi 25 tagját a helyi egyetem (Geneva College) diákjai szolgálják be vasárnaponként. Ünnepek és úrvacsora alkalmával a környékbeli magyar lelkészek szolgálnak.

Az egyház képviseltette magát a Pittsburgh környéki női konferencián. Az Egyházmegye (Central Classis, Presbyterian) és a Kálvin Zsinat gyűlésein is részt vettünk.

Az év kiemelkedő eseményei közé tartozik a Bazár - “Rummage Sale” és a szeretetvendégség úrvacsora után, amiért a Nőegylet, Rezes Erzsiké és Dr. Sarolta (Vereb) Kovács a felelős.
