YOUNGSTOWN, OH Pastor: Ken Sausman American Hungarian Reformed Church Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház 925 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44502 Phone: (216) 743-4557 I have been in the pulpit for four years and counting with the American Hungarian Reformed Church. I have total respect and admiration for the officers and members of this organization. In the last four years, we have seen these events materialize with a vision and a strong commitment. Our puppet ministry entitled “The Christian Critters” is very successful in conveying the gospel to our youth. A tape ministry is utilized on audio cassettes that allow shut-ins and attending members to reflect on the spoken Word of God. Our women’s organization “Sister’s In Friendship” have been wonderful in promoting charity for our local Rescue Mission, such as a blanket drive last winter and gift wrapping presents for homeless children the year before, and this year the sisters are collecting nonperishable food items in a 55 gallon drum that we hope to fill. A Prayer Chain has been developed to quickly address an emergency situation as each participating member on the chain will notify her prayer partner as to the emergency or need and immediate prayers can be given on their behalf, we are a church that believes in the power of prayer. We promote church dinners that always reach seating capacity, and most recently our newly published cookbook has been well received in the community. Once a year a Chinese Auction is always a highlight and an outdoor bacon fry every fall. Thanks to several members a volleyball court has been built on our property to enhance our church picnics and youth gatherings. I could write more but Bishop Forro said only one page. I want to close by thanking our church officers: Joe Takacs Chief Elder, Louis Demjen asst. Chief Elder, Peggy Carson Secretary, Joe Vince Treasurer. Church Council includes Rudy Tatar, Ralph Iagulli, Al Hodory, Ed Such, Elmer Stalnacker, Bob Moon, Roy Combs, David Combs, Steve Mislevy, John Varga, Gene Chepke and Darlene Demjen (who was Chief Elder for the last 8 years). I also want to recognize Naomi Sparks, our organist and pianist with incredible musical talent. 296
