Dr. Vitéz Ferenc, püspök: A Kálvin Egyházkerület

On the 18th of February, 1993 we joyfully celebrated a fellowship dinner, to honor our revolutionary brother Bishop László Tokes from Transylvania. On the 6th of January 1993 we delightfully celebrated the 70th wedding anniversary of our devout brother Maynard Husty and his wife Helen and on the 7th of November we wept beside his casket. On Reformation Sunday, October 30th, 1994 we dedicated our beautiful stained glass window, above the main entrance of our church, to the Glory of God, by the generosity of the Husty Family. Both the emblems of the Hungarian Reformed Church and of our beloved Hungary are beautifying our House of Worship, testefully placed in harmoniously arranged colors of glass. The two inscriptions below the emblems are: “If God be for us who can be against us!” and “To die in the service of your country is possible, but to tire never!” Pastor Szucs, as Bishop of the Synod, represented the Calvin Synod on April 19-23, 1993 in the Carpatho-Ukraine, for the preparation of a Hungarian World Synod. He preached at Beregszász, by the invitation of Bishop Paul Forgon. Praise be to God, the church was full, in the middle of the week, as a shining example of faithfulness of our Hungarian Reformed brethren there. Completing his two terms of office, permitted by our Constitution, he turned over his post to his honored and beloved friend, The Rt. Reverend Francis Vitéz, whom he installed as our new Bishop in Perth Amboy, on the 19th of September, 1993. They both represented our Synod, also in September, at the General Synod of The Hungarian Reformed Church, in Budapest. We commend our guest preachers for their testimonies and for the strengthening of our faith in our church. We humbly thank the Rt. Reverend Dr. Francis Vitéz, the Reverends Aaron Elek, László Lukacsi, Csaba Orosz, László Ujj, Zsolt and Csilla Szabó, József Soos, Paul Kovács and Ildikó Balint for their services. During the year of 1993, Mrs. Barbara Szucs, our Pastor’s wife was invited by The Reformed Collegium and Seminary of Debrecen to teach English as a second language there. Thus she traveled on her own expense, to serve there in July and August. At the 19th General Synod of the United Church of Christ, 224
