DAYTON, OH Pastor: Raymond F. Kaiser Since our congregation is small and most of the members that attend services on a regular basis live on a fixed income, we found that the monies derived from offerings was not enough to cover even the basic expenses. We had to resort to other measures to augment our financial situation. We used to hold banquets once a month to raise money but that soon wore thin. The ladies were killing themselves with work so we elected to having bingo games to raise capital... We have two bingo sessions a week and through the efforts and loyalty of about a dozen people and under the guidance of our Rev. Kaiser, we can proudly say, we now have enough money to pay our bills and have a little extra to share. We have pledged 10% of our bingo profits to charities, wherever the need is the greatest. 1. First and foremost, we help the Bethlen Home whenever there is a need that Rev. Kovács alert us to. 2. Once a month we cook for the Salvation Army for about 150 people. 3. This year, the proceeds from the March 15th banquet went to the orphanage in Budapest. 4. We adopted a sister church last year in Hungary and periodically send them financial aid to use wherever necessary. 5. We have an on going food pantry. 6. At Christmas time, we send food baskets to the needy, be they church members, senior citizens or friends. 7. At Christmas time we also remember to send financial aid to Cancer Fund Hospice, Hippie Cancer Research, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Fund the Christmas party for Bethlen Home — $1000.00 each. 8. Set up a helping hand fund to aid those in need of immediate cash for an emergency. 9. Gave financial aid to the tornado stricken areas and the flood victim. 10. Made a contribution to the men that drove the Hungarian bus to some of the cities in the United States. Over and above all this, we did some renovation in and around the complex by: Redoing the women’s and men’s restrooms in the Kossuth 214
