How do we take these just vaguely outlined adverse circumstances? Because, you see, the bottom-line of our problems (or anybody else’s problems) is not what is happening to us, but how we react to it. Now, this is how we try to respond. In true repentance we have realized that God does not need us, if we are a self-serving church without any ministry to the community, where He placed us. Since, most of the remaining citizens of McKeesport belong to the older generation, our Church established The Art of Aging Community Center, Inc. We have been planning different, most needed, services for our elderly population, like subsidized housing, senior day care and others. So far, we have weathered three fat failures in receiving the neccessary funds. Though discouraged and hurting,we bandaged our wounds, and bounced back to try it again, to try it one more time. God showed us new avenues and an excellent location for our project. If He blesses us in our renewed venture, the same place will be the location of our new church building also. In case we may fail again, and the life of our Church will be cut short, we will accept God’s verdict with a humble and grateful heart. More than that. We will regard our failure just the opposite. We will regard it as success. Do you know why? Because at least we tried, and did try it hard. We will remember God’s comforting Word to David, „Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart... ” (2 Chronicles 6:8.) Wait a minute. This is too far fetched for our 1989 report. We are still in the battlefield in full force, with great courage, and trusting hearts. By the way, we also preached the inspired and inspiring, powerful and life-giving Word of God, administered the sacraments, had our different organizations and meetings, made our delicious kolbász and other goodies just as other constituent churches did in the 1989th year of our Lord.
