hagyományos „nagyvásárok”, magyaros ételek, magyar folklór értékei eredményezik a gyülekezet anyagi biztonságát. Istenünk gazdag áldását kérjük mindazokra, akik ebben odaadóan fáradoztak. Mint minden évben, most is megemlékezünk a gyülekezet elöljáróiról, névszerint: Joseph Poruban, Barbara Poruban főgondnok házaspárról és segítőtársaikról, akik példamutatóan szolgáltak az év során. Megköszönjük a befogadó szeretetet, s azt a jó munkatársi közösséget, mely segített abban, hogy Isten ügye haladjon, a gyülekezet épüljön. Soli Deo Gloria! Kiváltságnak tekintjük, hogy magyar református hitvalló őseink nyomába lépve hirdethettük Isten Igéjét, fogadtuk és tovább adtuk gazdag kegyelmét. Jó volt érezni, hogy a Kálvin Zsinat kötelékében, mégis minden magyar hátterű gyülekezet nagy családjába tartozunk. Isten őrizze meg a gyülekezetei minden veszélytől, s Ő adjon akarata szerinti jövendőt.

We are happy to report that the Bridgeport congregation was blessed with a prosperous year in 1989. At the same time this year was a testing for her. God has truly been generous to us through the whole year. With His help all projects have been completed and new ones have begun. In January Rev. Dr. John Butosi announced his plan for retirement. As sson as in March a pulpit committee was formed to find and secure a new minister. The whole year was full of preparations that brought many happy and varied events in our church.

From the statistics (see above) we learn that officials, church workers, consistory and committees allowed our organization remain active. Faithfulness and Christian love was the foundation under which the former ministers, Rev. Komjáthy, Rev. Bessemer and Rev. Butosi used to serve this congregation. The same devout affection directed our dedication, who came as guests to subtitute, and became interim pastors of the Bridgeport congregation. In personal respect we are truly thankful for the things God has done for us in 1989. It was a decisive period of our lives. We consider our mission as a continuation of a grand and precious tradition of three or four generations. Thanks to God that the Hungarian Spirit and language have been ever present at the Bridgeport North Avenue Church. Through 85 years God blessed this community who are heirs of those noble puritan reformed ancestors who kept the best of their heritage.
