1986 297 Rev. Bacsó, his wife Ida, and daughter Elizabeth attended the 50th Reunion of the 1935 Class of Lancaster Theological Seminary of the United Church of Christ, when the Rev. Dr. Avery Post, president of the United Church of Christ, preached the Commencement sermon for the 1985 graduating class, and greeted and congratulated the members of the Class of 1935. The Rev. Dr. Peter Schmiechen, president of the Seminary, welcomed the Class of 1935, and presented them with a certificate of recognition. The Ohio Senate — the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, Senator Paul E. Gillmor, President of the Ohio Senate, presented an official document of recognition and congratulation “to honor the Reverend Bela P. Bacsó on your fiftieth anniversary in the ministry,” — closing the document with this statement: “It is with a great deal of pride and satisfaction that we commend you for your years of service to the Lord and salute you as one of Ohio’s finest citizens and religious figures.” Rev. and Mrs. Bacsó reside in their home in Elyria, Ohio. BENEDEK JÓZSEF 1912-1985 Arról a vidékről származott, ahonnan a legtöbb Amerikába vándorolt magyar: a Szabolcs megyei Tiszaágtelken született 1912-ben. Gyermek volt még, mikor édesanyjával és testvérével kijött apjához a pennsylvániai Leechburgba. 1953 és 1968 között a Református Egyesület körzeti, majd a nyugati kerület szorgalmas, eredményes szervezője volt. Ekkor szerzett diplomát, amelynek alapján a United Church of Christ lelkésszé szentelte. Előbb segédlelkészi szolgálatot végzett Ravenna, Ohioban. Első magyar gyülekezete a michigani Kalamazoo volt 1970 és 1975 között. Onnan Gary, Indianaba került. Négy évi szolgálat után a Johnstown-Windber-Vintondale-i parókiára hívták meg, ahol hűséggel, eredményesen szolgált hét esztendeig. 1985 október 30-án halt meg. Koporsóját tizenkét palástos szolgatársa vette körül. A vigasztalás igéit Bertalan Imre, a Református Egyesület elnöke és Farkas Sándor youngstowni lelkész hirdették gyászoló családjának és gyülekezetének. Édesapja mellé temettük el a leechburgi temetőben. Emlékét szeretettel őrizzük szívünkben. Novák Miklós
