One of our annual projects, distributing Christmas Baskets to the needy in the community, continues to be well-supported by the congregation. This type of project is especially needed in our area, and it gives our members a chance for “real-life” mission work, in the spirit of the Scriptures.

Our yearly social functions are: our Annual Picnic, our annual Christmas Program, and our combined Annual Meeting and Congregational Dinner, where more members appear than ever. But these social functions are also important, since we must not only work together, but also enjoy each other’s company — if we are to be fashioned into a true community when we gather to worship.

We are grateful to God for blessing us in many ways. While many other congregations have devisive factions, our church life is harmonious. While some congregations are caught in the friction between being either Hungarian or American, we were fortunate to be shown by our Slovak brethren 50 years ago that nationality and language need not divide us when Christianity binds us. So today we are a Christian Church of Reformed background, some whose mother tongue is Slovak, some of Hungarian mother tongue, some English. But that is not now, nor has it ever been an important topic in our congregation. For our common faith in Christ makes those differences seem meaningless. So we can continue giving all glory to Him and Him alone.

Jelentésünket évről szeptembertől szeptemberig tesszük meg. Isten kegyelméből az elyriai egyház az elmúlt évben is igen szép erkölcsi és anyagi eredményekről számolhatott be a gyülekezet előtt. A presbitérium nagy odaadással és hozzáértéssel végezte munkáját. Ugyancsak nagy szorgalommal dolgoztak a többi egyházszervezetek is.

A Dorcas Guild nevű nőegylet élén özv. Kayden Ferencné állt, aki már évek óta vezeti a csoportot. Ez a női csoport ebben az évben több mint háromezer dollárt költött a templomi padok
