1986 131 (Vice-President of the Federation) and Ernest Virgulák sponsored 2 bus trips for church members and friends to Atlantic City and a 3-day trip to the Bethlen Home. During the year the church also had a Women’s Guild Bake Sale, a Sunday School Bake Sale, a Spaghetti Supper, Hungarian Committee Dinner, Men’s Brotherhood Dinner, Mother’s and Father’s Day Dinner, Women’s Guild Picnic and Sunday School Picnic. The church also took part in the Oyster Festival of S. Norwalk. The congregation was also involved in helping the poor of the community by collecting 134 cans and 28 boxes of food. In September Rev. Szabó was elected Dean of the Eastern Classis. In October he gave the Memorial Address at the Statue of the 1956 Freedom Fighters. He also preached the Installation Service for Rev. Steven Strickler of Manville, NJ on Nov. 10. The attendance at the service from March to August 1984 was 1738. In 1985 for the same period it was 3343. When Rev. Szabó arrived a “Search Committee” was organized to study the feasibility of relocating. They will give a report at the Annual Meeting in January. At the Every Member Canvass Dinner in November the congregation approved a budget of $81,130 for 1986. This is $10,000 less than the budget was for 1985. Our active organizations are: The Consistory with 22 members. The Officers are: President Joseph Napoleon, Vice- President Frank Dudás; Treasurer George Dudás; secretary Eleanor Majoros; Comptroller William Hevesy. Sunday School: Supt. Glorilynn Klein. Women’s Guild President: Judy Manko; Sr. Ladies President: Sara Kovats; Men’s Brotherhood Pres. Elek Késmárki. The Sr. Choir which sings every Sunday, except during the summer: Organist/Choir Director: Joseph Lucskay. We are anxiously awaiting the Advent/Christmas season, when we will once again celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our English service and Sunday School are at 10:00 a.m. The Sunday School is in church for the first 15 minutes to hear a children’s sermon. The Hungarian service is at 11:00 a.m.
