1985 137 DAYTON, OHIO Vacant The Hungarian Evangelical and Reformed Church of Dayton, Ohio is presently without a pastor. I will try to review our congregational year. The most important issue facing our church is our search for a new pastor. The Synod is assisting us in our quest for a new, vigorous leader. The members’ generous contributions have allowed us to complete the installation of stained glass windows throughout the new church edifice. Chief Elder Goggin organized a group of volunteers to a landscape project around the church. After contouring the grounds, seven loads of top soil were distributed and the seeding took place. The parking areas and entranceway have been asphalted to further enhance the grounds. A special Congregational Meeting is to be held on September 30, 1984 to consider renovating Kossuth Hall’s roof and walls. This will require a Mansard Roof design installation, to prevent further deterioration from the weather. A special Committee has been working to update and clarify the Church By-laws. Hopefully next month will see this task completed. The Church besides its annual events such a banquets, catering social events, and the Grape Festival is planning a New Year’s Party this year. Our fondest hope is to revitalize our Congregation, and to be able to induce former members to return and contribute to the Church’s life. We also hope to involve the immediate neighborhood to participate in our Church. FAIRPORT HARBOR, OH Lelkipásztor: AAedgyesi Lászió Főgondnok: Katona László. Hálás szívvel számolok be a Fairport Harbor-i egyház életéről, mint első éves lelkész. E 220 lelkű gyülekezet átlagos templomlátogatása 80 személyt mutat. Ebből 34-en magyarra és 46-an angol istentiszteletre járnak. Az 1984 első 8 hónap statisztikai kimutatása a következő: két keresztelés, hat temetés és két esketésünk volt. Isten áldását kérjük az újszülöttekre és az új házaspárokra. A két aktív gyülekezeti szervezetünk a fiatal Női Kör (Women’s Fellowship) és a Mária Márta Kör. Mindkét szervezet szorgalmasan munkálkodik az egyház anyagi támogatásában. A minden éven megtartott anyáknapját presbitereink teszik széppé, főzési tudományukkal és virágokkal köszöntik az egyház legidősebb és legfiatalabb jelenlévő anyját és azt, aki a legtöbb gyermekkel van jelen. Szintén minden éven megünnepeljük apák napját, amin szorgalmas kezű asszonyaink szolgálnak ebédet. Az első nagy szüreti mulatságunkra minden felekezeti és egyháztag szorgalmasan hozzájárult. Fiatal Női Körünk minden hónap első vasárnapján szeretetvendégségben fogadja tagjainkat a két istentisztelet között, kávéval és süteménnyel.
